Choosing a car seat

Each year thousands of children are killed or injured in car crashes. As a parent keeping your child safe is one of the most important jobs you have. Proper use of car safety seats help to keep children safe, and it’s the law. However, with so many suitable types of car seats available on the market, it can overwhelming trying to find the one that best suits your needs while meeting the requirements.

The type of seat you need will depend on several things, including your child’s age, size and the type of vehicle you have. Bring your child and your vehicle when making the decision to purchase. Look for a store that will help you try the seat in your car before you buy it.

Choose a child car safety seat according to the following :

  • Is in compliance with the United Nations standard, ECE Regulation 44.04 (or R 44.03) or thei-size regulation, R129. There must be an 'E' mark label on the seat.
  • Be appropriate for your child's weight and height.
  • Be fitted to the manufacturer's instructions.
